Vital stats
I am a software engineer in the Chicago area. I have a Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois, Chicago. I have a Bachelor of Music from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. I play trumpet fairly well, and some other instruments not as well.
Work-ship

When people ask 'what do you do', they usually mean 'where to you work'. Well, I work at this place called Tellabs (TLAB on the NAS), which bought the company that I used to work for called AFC. Tellabs bought me a hat, too (not pictured). Chances are, I'm there right now. |
Music
I play trumpet. Here's a little snippet of me playing (300K).. I played with jazz and salsa groups in Northern CA for the last few years. I'm currently not playing much in Chicago, as I've only been back a short while. Here is a little jazz improvisation tutorial I put together.

For the last couple of years, I have been hacking away at a music notation/composition aid called 'iabc'. It is based on the abc language.
